We are a Yacht Charter Club for ALL Brown women. We exist to form sisterhood and lifelong trips on the ocean with likeminded women.
Joining BGWY requires a $30 Join Fee (catch our annual deals) and one low monthly fee based on your chosen charter level. Fees must be paid monthly for the full year or members forfeit their right to join charters.
Your monthly membership fee entitles you to up to 3 charters each charter season depending on the charter level chosen.
Once you join BGWY, you will be matched with 6 other charter members to form your local chapter. These 6 members are who you will share your charters with.
There are no other mandatory fees beyond Entry fees and monthly memberships.
Chapter members will be alerted by their chapter Treasurer about any missed payments. The member will have up to 2 months to pay their current balance in full before being demoted in the club. Demoted members will be placed on suspension from all charters and will forfeit any money paid. Chapter Presidents will reach out to consider whether the member is in need of terminating their membership indefinitely. Once terminated, members are not be allowed to rejoin the club for another year.
Please keep in mind that we want our members to consider their finances (Priorities Sis!) before joining the club. Yachting is a luxury experience and comes at an expense. You cannot be accommodated when other members have paid their fees in full.
Sure! Simply provide the name and info of the recipient in our signup form and provide your billing information in the form below the recipient’s info.
Charters are booked throughout Southern California and will always be agreed upon by all members of the chapter.
Charters are scheduled between your chapter. You will be given options by the club and each chapter member will vote on one of the given options for each charter unanimously.
Because charter dates are agreed upon by the entire group months in advance we hope to eliminate most circumstances in which members miss their charter dates. However, we understand that emergencies and mistakes happen. As a result we will make every effort to book you on another charter date with another local chapter when one becomes available. Please note however that we will only seek to book you on one charter. If you miss two dates, you will still only be eligible to join one charter date with another chapter.
Food, Beverages and Entertainment are highly encouraged on your chapter charters and are the choice of each individual chapter group. Any expenses for these additional perks are divided among the charter members for each charter and are not mandatory to attend the charter.
Charters are at minimum 3 hours and in most cases 4 hours long during the early morning or afternoon. We give options for weekend and one weekday charter for each date.
Charter members are matched by the club based upon similar or varying interests, demographics (age, marital status, employment etc.) and encouraging “good vibes” among members.
Absolutely! When you sign up please provide the full name and phone number of the member you wish to be matched with in a chapter. Or you may email us the request at any time before you are matched: [email protected]
We will make every effort for you to meet your fellow members by Zoom, in-person meetups and more prior to your first charter. By the time you meet for your charter you should be well acquainted and our hope is that this is the start of a lifelong friendship.
You will also be listed in our membership site with all other members and elections for chapter roles will commence.
In addition to standard Members or SeaWomen, there are 3 key roles with duties in each chapter: Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.
